Risk and Regret

photo(8)Last night, we held our Virtual Book Club on Twitter for founder Summer Felix’s book, Lost and Profound, in which we briefly discussed (without spoiling the storyline) regret and making risky and oftentimes impulsive decisions when it comes to relationships.

Taking risks is often a part of discovering who we are, what we want, what we don’t want but feeling that gut-wrenching anxiety of regret often gets in the way of allowing us to learn from our mistakes or growing from our experiences.

Writing about what we would have done differently and changing the outcome of a situation is always a good way to come to terms with this emotion. This week’s writing prompt is a more personal one, although with every writing prompt, you’re free to write about your own situation or a fictional one created for a character you make up.

Writing Prompt: Write about a time you took the risk …and ended up feeling regret. What would you have done differently if you could do it all over again?

Post it on your blog and link it up below. If you don’t have a blog, simply leave your response and/or link in the comments below.

How it works: If you submit a link, please click on the other links of those who join in and leave a comment on a few posts that really speak to you. Our goal is to support each other. If you’re feeling generous, go ahead and share their links on your social sites and let them know how you discovered their writing.

Share this post, and others, by using the hashtag #WritingPrompt and tag us on Twitter, @JellyRollInc, or mention us on Facebook.

Come back for this weekly series every Wednesday.
